SIENNA'S FIRE-AND-RAIN  (CH Rakiara's Stuntman X CH Sienna's Wicked Ways)  9/2000 - 3/2002

We called her 'Suzan' after the girl in the James Taylor song, and after Marti's dear friend, Dr Suzan Dziurawiec.  We often also called her Suzie-Suzan.  What an athlete she was!  Suzan's favorite things were chasing butterflies, jumping completely across the bridge at the pond, and playing soccer with the wiggle-giggle ball.  She adored her Uncle Huckleberry and cousin Thunder-Ali.  Ali was so patient with Suzie, who insisted on being the 'alpha' of the pack, although the youngest and physically smallest of our Ridgebacks at the time.  Suzan had 12 points in AKC competition, her 1st major shown below.  Marti got tense hoping for the 'finish', and 'blew' the 2nd major in the Winners Class at Leesburg, Suzie only took the Reserve to the Bred-By.  Sadly, her name proved to be prophetic -- the song says "I've seen Fire and I've seen Rain.  I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end.  I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend.  But I always thought I'd see you again." ..... Suzan died of bloat/torsion one afternoon in the den when we were away at an appointment; Jasmine, her dear friend, was by her side.  When we reached her she was breathing her last, and we never knew if she knew we were there with her .... I still see Suzan out of the corner of my eye -- flying across the bridge in the sheer joy of being in motion. When Rickie started chasing butterflies last summer, we held our breath and wondered if Suzie's spirit had found a home in Ricochet.  My darling girl, we look so forward to being reunited with you at the Rainbow Bridge in time to come.
