News:
9 June 08: These girls ! Jasmine has
swollen up and acts like she IS in season, and now, Ella is in season 2 months
early ! Jeannie is in, in, in..... Someone surely has dominant hormones in
this household. All the girls are 'in' much too close together to consider
mating Ella at this time. So we wait........ In the meantime, Miss Imp is
getting lots of sleep and demanding attention more and more -- it makes us
wonder 'if' she 'knows already' that she is pregnant or not .... Time will
tell...
She comes to me and offers her paw, hangs her head slightly, and then
looks coyly at me, batting her eyes -- she THINKS she has a secret!!! We will
see if she does or not.... Meanwhile, Pappa Hawkeye is very pleased with himself
these days and waits expectantly to be invited from the 'bachelor pad' at the
Big Kennel to come and visit 'the girls' down at the house and Small Kennel.
He's such a dear fella.
28 May 08: Well, the 'dormitory effect' is certainly hard at
work here at Ynda this summer. First, Miss June came into season for the
first time in 3 years. She was followed immediately by Miss Imp.
Now, as soon as Imp is mated, Jeannie has come into season. AND Jasmine is
trying to have one of her 'you girls cant leave me out of all this,
semi-seasons'.... YIKES. This is disastrous timing for us with Jeannie.
It simply is not fair to Jeannie and Imp to even try to have 2 litters of pups
only 2 weeks apart. Since Imp is already mated, the decision has been made
for us by Mother Nature. Jeannie will have to wait to have pups, once
again !!!! You may remember we wanted to mate her last year at this time,
but when Ella came into season almost the same time, we chose to mate Ella to
Zack instead. Jeannie has already 'told' us that she wants to be the
'center' of attention and get the motherhood opportunity, so we will pretty much
have to mate her to Calvin at her next season.
26 May 08: Imp has successfully been mated to Hawkeye !
Her 'due date' is set as: July 29. That means her pups should tentatively
be ready to go to St Francis about September 15th. What happens next? Well, even tho very important
fetal development is taking place during the first 4 weeks post-conception,
there is little we can do to influence that except to keep Miss Imp happy and
healthy. That means her normal diet, exercise, and lots of love and
praise. She wont be allowed to swim in the pond as long as her system is
'open.' She will continue to receive her bath and nail spa treatments on
schedule, too. Sometime between the 28th and 35th days of pregnancy we
will schedule an ultrasound to see if we can determine whether or not she is
pregnant. We will probably only have sporadic updates between now and
then.
24 May 08: Progesterone testing continues. Imp has NOT
yet ovulated.
23 May 08: Imp is in season. We continue to test
her progesterone levels every other day. We believe we should have
ovulation and a successful mating early next week. She and Hawkeye are
enjoying each other's company every afternoon, and they play and court each
other in the back yard. Hawkeye is very much the gentleman, respecting
Imp's report that the 'time is not yet right.' Imp is charmed with Hawkeye
sharing toys and being attentive to her.

RBIS GRCH 'Imp' Our beloved
Miss Imp (Reserve Best In Show winner, and a Grand Show Champion) will
be mated for the final time. Her chosen mate is our
darling boy,
GRCH Hawkeye. This will be a wonderful litter of B.B. and
B.Y.
blacks, very moderate in size, hopefully with all of Momma Imp's smartness
and joie-de-vivre and all of Pappa Hawkeye's carefree attitude and rugged
good looks, fabulous coats, and superb substance.
Both of these dogs excel in
front assembly, short coupling, head type and coat. Both are excellent
retrievers.
Imp is one of our 'pupsicles' from June and Calvin.

Puppy PETRA is now a St Francis Service Dog in Training !
Flash ! two of Petra's brothers join her at St Francis as Service Puppies in
Training.
This brings Ian's sire-total to 6 currently training Service Dogs/puppies.
Ian's youngsters out of Imp -- Banner, Mac, and Ready -- are in Advanced
Training.

#2 Our St John and Pacesetter Jazzy Blue produced 9
beautiful pups.
6 of those 9 have gone into Service Dog Training,
including Yellow Female Puppy GOLDIE (now named GEORGIE)
donated by us as our stud puppy to St
Francis.
Congratulations to Pacesetter for such a lovely litter.

Calvin
Jeannie
What a blessing this is to be able to use Calvin again.
During his lifetime, Calvin easily earned his AKC Championship.
He was an influential sire in New England,
producing get who are titled in several venues.
His stud work includes 8 years at stud at Guiding Eyes in CT.
His offspring have an impressive record of health clearances.
Learn more at Calvin's page. Learn more about Jeannie
We have adored our 2 precious Calvin offspring -- St John and Imp -- and
we are so excited about the prospect of more Calvin youngsters.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You Mary Ellen !!!

Jeannie gives me ringside kisses at Potomac
Jeannie is every conformation person's dream come true.
In 2002 when we knew June was carrying a singleton puppy out of CH Chelon's Mac
The Knight, we picked out 1 name for a male pup and 1 name for a female pup.
The 'Dream' names we chose represented the blood tie to June, Midsummer Knights
Dream. The puppy was a male, and the rest is history -- he became our
beloved Martin, "I Have A Dream". Naturally, when Martin's first litter
was born (to Jasmine), we named the darling, fiesty little girl the 'other name'
we had held close. " I Dream of Jeannie" thus was christened. Her
song I sing to her to the Stephen Foster tune is 'I Dream Of Jeannie with the
dark brown eyes." And every day I tell her, "I dreamed of you before you
were born." And I did.
Jeannie has always loved to travel and to be with us. Many was the time as
puppies that she and sister Ella would vie for our attention. That's how I
think Jeannie got her 'hey, look at me attitude." You can certainly see it
in the show ring. Jeannie just sets herself squarely and wags that tail,
asking for her treat AND to be noticed. I have never had to hand stack
Jeannie -- everything you see is truly her.
Jeannie finished her United Show Champion and Grand Show
Champion titles almost before she was leash broken. She went on to earn
not 1 but 4 Best In Multi-Breed Show awards AND a Best In Specialty Show award.
We take her out sparingly so as not to 'burn out' her love of showing.
Jeannie was in the UKC Top Ten in 2005 and 2006.

Jeannie at LRC Potomac showing herself off !
Jeannie is a delightful girl who is always full of herself, who
loves to play and run with the other dogs, who is ready for any adventure life
throws her way. Jeannie is eager to please, wants to be with us and is
always cheerful. She is 21 inches tall, has all her clearances and is
dominant black (like her parents).
